Game On!

We started our new series – Game On: Takin’ it to the Streets – yesterday. The core idea is that the Church is God’s team to continue Jesus’ mission on earth. Our goal is to share the value of getting off the bench and into the game. One of our values as a church is that “ministry is everyone’s job.”
Yesterday I shared a message called “Picking the Team.” The scripture we focused on was Luke 14:15-24 (the parable of the great banquet). I spoke to the idea that, as Jesus’ servants, we’re called to be recruiters for this great banquet known as the Kingdom of God. I rambled a good bit but I felt like the concept connected pretty well. We had another decent crowd (45 total) and something awesome happened after the service - more on that later.Â
Here’s the link for the message .mp3.
I am enjoying this series already. We had a bench on the stage with water coolers and a bunch of sports stuff. I even sported my new preaching hoodie yesterday. It was a great day. Praise God for what He’s doing in and through Iron City Church!
