With less than 5 days to go until our Kick-Off Sunday it’s hard to describe the emotions I’ve been experiencing.  My stomach is in knots because I am unsure of who will be in attendance on Sunday.  My brain is running in 3,000 different directions — did we think of this or that, who’s handling this?  My body is a wee bit tired because of all the excitement and activity.

But – and this is a little bit of a shocker to me — the emotion that permeates my being more than anything this week is a confident sense of destiny.  Some kind of a quiet confidence that is hard to explain (maybe just hard to understand).  It’s the confidence of knowing that I am less than 120 hours away from one of the most meaningful days of my life thus far and my God has brought us to this place, this point in history for a reason.  More than that, it’s the confidence of knowing that He didn’t bring us here and give us a passion, a vision for a seeing a city transformed for His glory to simply abandon us.

And it’s a confidence that the God who sent His own Son to die on a cross to pay the price to reconnect people to Himself is big enough to do anything!  Whatever God does this weekend to kick off Iron City Church is just the beginning.  It’s the official beginning of an adventure that is based on making Jesus famous throughout the Pittsburgh metro area and seeing countless lives transformed with the Good News!  The confidence that I have is based on God’s promises.  This one has captivated me more and more in the last few weeks: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew%2016:18;&version=31;

If you live in the Pittsburgh metro area, North Allegheny Intermediate High School (NAI) in McCandless is the place to be Saturday and Sunday for Iron City Church’s KICK-OFF WEEKEND!  Saturday we’re throwing a free community block party from 10 AM – 1 PM in the parking lot at the school.  Sunday is our official Kick-Off Sunday service @ 10 AM in the NAI Auditorium.  Dress in whatever makes you comfortable and come ready to have a great time!  Don’t miss this chance to help us make history!!
